What You Need to Know about Tooth Restoration – Implants 101

September 10, 2020

Are you ready to fill in one or more gaps in your mouth? If you are missing a tooth, then you need to consider the dental restoration techniques that can be used to improve the appearance of your smile. One of the best treatments for long-lasting results is an implant in place of the missing tooth.

Here at Clock Tower Dentistry, we offer top-notch dental restoration. Our goal is to educate our patients about the treatment options that are offered. This education will help you choose the treatment that is right for your situation.

Treatment Time for Dental Implants

Some dental treatments can be done in a single visit. For example, if you come to our office for a small filling, then we can finish the work in the same day. But, there are other times when multiple appointments are needed to complete the full treatment.

Dental implants require several appointments over a period of a few months. The first appointment is the time when the preparation will be done for the implant. If a tooth needs to be extracted, then that extraction will take place during the first visit.

Then, the next appointment will be for the placement of your implant post. After the post is implanted in your jaw bone, it is important to wait for a few months before the crown is attached to the post. This waiting time is required so that the bone can strengthen the area and hold the post in place, like a natural tooth root.

Most patients can complete the treatment in three to six months, although there are situations where the treatment time might take a little longer. We can help you determine the anticipated treatment time based on your needs.

Why Implants Instead of Other Restoration Treatments?

What is the advantage of choosing dental implants instead of bridges or dentures? If you are going to spend the time and money to restore your smile, then it makes sense to choose a treatment that will last for many years. Implants are durable and strong, and they could last for the rest of your life with proper hygiene and dental care.

The cost of a dental implant is worth the investment because of the long-term benefits that you will enjoy. After the implant is in place, it will look like your natural tooth.
